First Vice-President of Toastmasters International to be Keynote Speaker at
District 61 Annual Conference

Radhi Spear, DTM will speak at the event in April 2023

Ottawa, Ontario, 2023-03-24 — Radhi Spear, DTM of New Jersey, will be one of three keynote speakers at Toastmasters International’s District 61 annual conference, 2023-04-14 to 2023-04-16 at Fairmont le Chateau Montebello in Montebello, Quebec. Ms. Spear is serving as First Vice-President of Toastmasters International, a worldwide organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders, from August 2022 to August 2023.

The District 61 Annual Conference will feature keynote speakers, learning workshops, speech contests, awards, the Annual District Council meeting, gala banquet, DTM reception, and social and networking activities. It is the most significant event at the District each year, offering activities in both French and English. This year’s hybrid conference theme is “I Am a Toastmaster!” Radhi Spear will be the keynote speaker on the first evening of the conference, Friday, 2023-04-14.

Like many other members, Spear joined Toastmasters to increase her confidence when speaking in public. She feels strongly about the many benefits of Toastmasters, which she has experienced firsthand, stating, “In Toastmasters, you learn skills that you can use in all aspects of your life, and as you help others, you learn and grow at the same time. I now have the ability and the confidence to speak up.” Spear believes that the skills people learn in Toastmasters – including public speaking, confidence and leadership – are the skills they need to adapt to changing and challenging times, and for the future. She adds, “Toastmasters works. It worked for me, a member of a demographic that perhaps needs Toastmasters the most — a minority, a woman and an engineer. I am passionate about Toastmasters and it is my mission to help even more people find Toastmasters and discover their potential!”

Spear joined Toastmasters in 2000, and is a charter member of her home club, AT&T Middletown Toastmasters, in Middletown, New Jersey. Before being elected as the First Vice-President of the organization, she held several high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters. She has achieved the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) designation twice — the highest level of educational achievement in the organization, in addition to earning other prestigious Toastmasters awards.
